I’m lucky that when everything gets a little too much in life, I can escape back to the rural peace that comes with the Welsh countryside. While these past few weeks have been pretty tough, it always makes me especially grateful to have the amazing friends and family around me that I do – and for living in such a beautiful environment around plenty of fresh air and footpaths for thinking things through and clearing my head.
For autumn this year, it seems a lot of past trends are circulating, giving the season an old-school, retro feel. Corduroy is one of the big ones (and certainly one of my favourites), becoming a mass revival of a classic, seventies style. For me, it’s a material that reminds me of childhood and sturdy, kids clothing, but simultaneously I conjure up an inspirational fashion image of a hippie in brown flares and a fringed waistcoat.
Spring is on the horizon and I’m so down for it. As much as I love winter’s knits and big coats I can’t wait to bare my ankles without getting frostbite and (dare I say it) maybe even reintroduce my Birkenstocks to the world. Lighter, warmer and smoother accessories can come into play and I’ve never been so ready to bask in the (cold) sun.
