Humbug

The colour red is still going strong for the season, which I’m super happy about because I’ve just invested in these AMAZING boots from Pull & Bear at ASOS. I’ve never really considered myself a boot kinda gal – I’ve had essential Chelsea boots for colder months and my Doc Martens, but have always played it fairly safe in that aspect, whereas I’m usually quite bold on the footwear front. These little beauties are game changers, though, and I don’t think boots could get much bolder…

Seeing Stripes

I am totally in love with this outfit – tied together by the amazing skirt. It fittingly seems that as the days begin to get shorter my skirt length gets longer, providing a different silhouette for me to work with (which it turns out I really like) and also helping me postpone the switch to tights for as long as possible. It’s great to be back at uni, because I feel like I can let my style run wild as opposed to being stuck in my work uniform at home! The wide range of interesting fashion senses and quirky street outfits has always inspired me, and there’s nowhere that diversity and individuality shows more than the city.

The Day to Night dress

Although I’m pretty organised with my outfits, there’s nothing I hate more than getting in from work or a long day out and stressing about what to wear for the evening. Especially when I’m exploring a fast paced city, I want to ensure I have as much time as possible to cram in everything I want to do. But I’m really weird when it comes to re-wearing the same clothes either the next day or the same night (hence why I’m the worst overpacker everrr). I like to change it up a little bit so I don’t feel gross and untidy, and so I know I won’t feel uncomfortable slogging in an ensemble that has been tailored to daywear, while simultaneously taking up minimal time and keeping any tantrums at bay.

Lust List: September

Autumn is upon us, and after the excitement of summer has died out (along with the decent weather) I couldn’t be happier to start the transition to the cosy jumpers, thick trousers and boots that await us. In colder months I always consider myself a summer person, and vice versa by the end of “summer” so I think it’s just a ‘grass is always greener’ kind of situation. I love the variation of clothes, warm, inviting colours and the excitement of different ways of layering that come with autumn, and the anticipation for (dare I say it) Christmas!! My absolute favourite time of year without a doubt. The concept of snuggly coats and dark evenings curled up by the fire appeal to me as much as long, summer evenings spent in a beer garden soaking up the sun. However, now those days are almost gone, I’m focusing on updating my wardrobe – spoiler alert, it contains a lot of red.

Parisian Vibes

Stripes and denim are two of my all-time favourite fashion themes, and combined they look even better. If I’m stuck, they’re my go-to styles; both timeless and easy to wear. When I feel too girly (that’s not really my thing), denim is the best way to add a bit of that boyish edge that I love to any outfit. You can never go wrong with a striped dress and trainers to caj it down or a striped tee, teamed under dungarees or a denim pinafore for maximum cool points. A Breton top tucked into blue, cropped jeans is always a fail-safe ensemble for me if I can’t find anything else to wear.

Slipping into Summer

It’s possibly the hardest season transition of the year – especially in Britain where the weather is so unpredictable – but also maybe one of my favourites. Switching from a Spring wardrobe, which in my case is still very much centred around coats and tights in a rebellion against the misleading sunny chill, to a Summer one is a trial and error process. It’s still very much reliant on whatever unexpected surprises the climate will throw at us on a certain day, but there are a few changes I’ll be focusing on to make the most of summer while I’m still on home soil.  Continue reading “Slipping into Summer”
