If you are a friend, family member or regular reader you’ll know how much I love festivals (and how much I bang on about it too). I’ve been going for years but this time round I think I’ve seriously caught the festi bug after travelling to Bilbao, and next year I’m going to save and aim to do three in one summer (and hopefully every other summer thereafter). There’s so many fabulously groovy festivals out there and it’s going to take a hell of a long time to attend all the ones I want to if I continue at a snails pace by doing one per year. As 2017’s festival season (and summer) draws to a close with only a few big names left, I want to celebrate the incredible fashion and funky spirit that has inspired me from this year’s best festivals!
Bilbao is unlike any city I’ve been to, and the Bilbao BBK unlike any festival I’ve experienced. I was amazed at the enormity of it (typical me not doing my research) as I expected it to be a small, traditional town. On the contrary, Bilbao is a bustling hive of activity, with both modern infrastructure and rich cultural heritage to explore. In the days after the festival we stayed in a hostel in the centre of town and tried to cover as much ground as possible to see everything we wanted to.
Festival Season is undoubtedly my favourite time of year. I say this every year (because it’s true). It’s the cocktail of friends, music, drinks and (most importantly) funky outfits that gives you a buzz like no other. This is also the only week of the year I will gladly throw myself into embracing the great outdoors, whether it be rain (is it even a festival if it doesn’t rain?) tent malfunctions or ant infestations I’ll take it all because nothing beats that festival feeling.
Bonfire night is over, which means now it’s basically Christmas. And we all know what the festive period entails… SPARKLE. Yes, the party season is soon to be in full swing so it’s time to get the gladrags out and cover ourselves head to toe in glitter. This month I’ve compiled my list to include some statement looks that will be the centrepiece at any winter party, as well as a few essentials that are on my own Christmas list (lets hope I’ve made it on the nice list this year).
In true British festival reality this past weekend has consisted of one too many warm lagers and the unforgettable sound of favourite bands, and resulted in a lost voice, worsening headache and serious Reading blues. We kind of forget for a year about all the camping inconveniences (it took Chloe and I almost two hours to figure out how to assemble our broken tent), below average toilet situation and the fearful sight of clouds and threat of mud they bring. But you’ve just got to embrace these minor obstacles (and even learn to love the loos) for five days and throw yourself into the festival spirit.
