Stripes and denim are two of my all-time favourite fashion themes, and combined they look even better. If I’m stuck, they’re my go-to styles; both timeless and easy to wear. When I feel too girly (that’s not really my thing), denim is the best way to add a bit of that boyish edge that I love to any outfit. You can never go wrong with a striped dress and trainers to caj it down or a striped tee, teamed under dungarees or a denim pinafore for maximum cool points. A Breton top tucked into blue, cropped jeans is always a fail-safe ensemble for me if I can’t find anything else to wear.
Summer’s in full swing, and so is festival season. I’m all festival’d out this year after Bilbao BBK (see my recent posts if you wanna read allll about it) but I’ve got a serious case of the blues and I wish I could go to more! Unfortunately for me it’s time to work the rest of the holidays after having my fair share of fun, although that hasn’t stopped me stalking the shops for my festi fashion favourites and lusting over what I’d bring with me if I was off to another one.
The best treatment for your body is a week by the sea. Salty hair? check. Make-up free skin? Check. Lots of walking to explore? Check. Minus the sunburn (I did wear SPF 50, promise) all these things contributed to the rehabilitation and relaxation that holidays are meant to encourage.
WARNING: holiday spam for the foreseeable future. We’ve just returned from an incredible week in Albufeira, Portugal, and I’m suffering from some serious holiday blues. So what better way to cheer myself up than reminiscing about the long, pretty days, lazing by the pool, eating and drinking like kings (pun intended) and exploring the picturesque towns.

Two of my favourite parts about going abroad: the sea and the pool. Nothing beats relaxing on a sun lounger after a day of exploring with a good book, walking along a sandy beach or dipping toes in the pool (splashing around and being childish in my case). I’ve been packing up for our trip to Portugal tomorrow and wanted to share the pieces I’ll be taking with me, featuring my much anticipated holiday reads and this amazing beach towel from Primark!
I’ve been searching for a peasant top for my upcoming holiday, and hadn’t been able to find one good enough to shed out forty/fifty pounds on. But I picked this one up in French Connection’s sale for just £19 (down from £65) and I love the beautiful embroidery features and tasselled waist belt.
Thanks to the sun’s special appearance this week (a far cry from today’s rain) some summer newbies got to make their debut appearance, as well as allowing me to dig out some old favourites. Although I’ve got deadlines looming in the coming weeks, and some journalism preparation to get done by Monday (oops) there’s no stress that a sunny day can’t fix. Somehow, all worries and intentions of work escape my head and instead it blooms with plans of barbecues and exploring new stretches of town. Needless to say, my work didn’t get done, but I did get to wear in these gorgeous new mules (which actually wasn’t the best idea when it’s humid).
