Sun spots

Sometimes I feel like I come across as a stereotypical Brit on this blog because all I ever seem to talk about is the weather. But I am soooo beyond chuffed that the sun had it’s hat on this week, it’s definitely put me in such a good mood considering all the work I’ve got on my plate at the moment.

Mellow Yellow

Being back home in Wales sometimes catches me in a bit of a creativity rut, especially because the quiet town I live in is a world away from the busy city of Nottingham. The weather is unreliable (much like the most of the UK) and while in summer the rolling hills and pretty countryside is lovely, for now the surrounding wet and muddy fields aren’t an ideal setting for spring outfit shooting.

Lust List: April

April? It feels like we may as well still be in the depths of winter with the rain and wind that insists on sticking around. If the sun won’t show itself, though, that’s just an excuse (as if I needed another one) to invest in some colourful and refreshing spring pieces to brighten up even the gloomiest of days.

The vintage blazer and some life lessons

This is probably my favourite outfit combination and photo shoot in a looong time. Even though the weather has yet to make its mind up (apparently it’s meant to snow again?) spring is slowly starting to appear with the odd sunny day and some colour returning to the world outside. Despite the shock of losing an hour – not ideal when you’re panicking about a deadline – clocks going forward have officially marked later sunsets which gets me so ready for summer nights, no matter how far off they may be.

The thing with pink

If you couldn’t already tell, I have developed a slight obsession with the colour pink. I’m not quite sure where it stemmed from, but it has taken over my bedroom: pink duvet, candles, throw, cushions… and now it’s gradually working its way into my wardrobe.

5 inspiring stories from incredible women

In honour of International Women’s Day, last week I was lucky enough to be invited to an incredible event at Surrey Business School to celebrate the successful careers of five very unique and individual women. Personally, I am an advocate of the idea that both amazing women and men should be commemorated every day, but sometimes it’s necessary to have that reminder of how special we really are, and this was the ideal event to do so.

Lust List: March

I think I’m speaking on behalf of the whole UK when I say spring has never been more needed. If you’re anything like me, you’ll agree that snow is only exciting over the festive season or if you’re still in school and actually benefit from a snow day! Other than that it’s just pretty annoying, bitterly cold and disruptive to any kind of productivity (I realise I sound super boring and harsh, but it really isn’t my idea of fun). It’s pretty to observe when you’re curled up by a window swamped in jumpers reading a good book, but not so fun when you have things to do and places to go. Plus, in true Brit style, we can’t seem to cope with sub-zero temperatures despite being such a developed country, and so boiler problems take priority over uni work and we risk ending up head over heels on the non-gritted pavement during an expedition into town to stock up on essentials (wine).
