Neutrals, gold accessories and comfy, breezy clothing are big on my summer radar. Relaxed and oversized is my motto this year – no one likes stuffy, tight clothes in the heat of summer and the pieces I’ve picked out this month are ideal for lounging, exploring and holidaying in the sun.
– The Denim Midi. New Look have got their summer pieces bang on, especially dress-wise, and this off-white denim skirt is a dreamy start to building a classic ensemble. I love the minimalism of it that means it can be dressed up in so many ways. I’d pair it with a vintage tee and some espadrilles or trainers depending on where I’m heading.
– Belmto. I’ve recently discovered Belmto and their jewellery is divine. Simplistic gold tones in beautiful, interesting shapes that compliment an easy-going wardrobe for beachy vibes. This is the Anais pair and I’m obsessed with the shell-like detailing of the clasp.
– Yet another basket bag. More and more amazing styles are popping up on the high street to rival more expensive options and I’m spoilt for choice. This one is Zara and combines beach and city with the straw design and wooden handles.
– Rouje Tee. Like everyone else, I’m head over heels for Jeanne Damas’ Parisian inspired Rouje brand. Every piece embodies that fabulous, casual French aura in pretty colours and floaty, feminine designs. Even the t-shirts are super cool and I’m lusting over this gorgeous yellow one to tuck into some high-waisted Mom jeans.
– Polka Dot Trousers. Polka dots will forever be in style, so it’s worth taking advantage of the abundance of insane prints out there at the mo. Oysho is another great summery brand I’ve come across with a focus on beachwear and accessories. Their funky monochrome polka dot trousers are chic and classy, and the wide legs mean there’s so many styling opportunities: a ribbed tank top and trainers, a boxy shirt and heeled sandals, or with a bikini top / swimsuit for an easy pool cover up.
– The Stripy Playsuit. Summer wouldn’t be summer without some stripes, and playsuits are an essential to have and throw on throughout the season. This one’s from Monki and I’m picturing it with brown accessories and a vintage hair scarf tying up a messy bun.
– Alexa Chung / Superga Trainers. White, chunky trainers go with everything and they’ve had a refreshing update with Alexa Chung’s Superga collaboration. They work so well to give a tougher twist to a feminine outfit, like with the aforementioned denim midi skirt, and in some occasions are far easier for a city break than sandals.
– Vinyl of the month. An album made for summer road trips? The Black Keys Turn Blue. Every song is an anthem and every guitar solo keeps you wanting more. ‘Up To You Now’ is a personal favourite of theirs and ‘Gotta Get Away’ and ‘Fever’ are addictive to listen to. Get the vinyl here.
I hope you have a great June! Until next month.
