Thanks to the sun’s special appearance this week (a far cry from today’s rain) some summer newbies got to make their debut appearance, as well as allowing me to dig out some old favourites. Although I’ve got deadlines looming in the coming weeks, and some journalism preparation to get done by Monday (oops) there’s no stress that a sunny day can’t fix. Somehow, all worries and intentions of work escape my head and instead it blooms with plans of barbecues and exploring new stretches of town. Needless to say, my work didn’t get done, but I did get to wear in these gorgeous new mules (which actually wasn’t the best idea when it’s humid).
I’ve seen some great mules around, and wanted some for evenings on holiday where it’s too relaxed to wear proper heels but you need that extra little dressy accessory. So, these ASOS ones seemed the perfect compromise. They’re super comfy (but do cause the dreaded wearing-in blisters) even with the block heel – I hardly noticed they weren’t flats!
My sunglasses are also new: a fab find from TK Maxx that actually don’t make my head look even smaller than it already is, a common problem for me with oversized sunnies! I love the subtle cats-eye teamed with a gorgeous tortoise-shell colouring, they’re similar to the pair I’ve been dreaming of from Prada at a fraction of the price tag!
As for the kimono – this has been a treasured resident of my wardrobe for a few years now, and always makes an appearance simultaneously with the sun. The clash of patterns and bright splash of colours spices up the plainest outfits, (imagine this ensemble without it) as well as working as a beach cover up and a funky evening jacket.
