Lust List: April

So much for April showers! This week’s mini heatwave has got me all excited for summer, so some things I’m after may be a little optimistic for this month… but there’s nothing wrong with being prepared! If you read my previous post you’ll be aware that I’m seeing red (pun intended) and it’s gonna be my go-to colour for the foreseeable future, along with good old denim and a dose of basket bags.

1 & 2 – The skirt suit. A classier update on uptight and downright boring work-wear; this cute barber-shop-quartet-esque number would look as cute in the day with a pair of trainers or sandals as it would be work appropriate. Unfortunately, it’s way out of my price range so I’ll be on the look out for a cheaper, vintage alternative. Blazer and skirt, both Topshop Unique.

3 – THE red shoes. Next have seriously outdone themselves with these slingback beauties (as also mentioned in my last post, I can’t get enough!!) and even though my red shoe craving is temporarily satisfied with my recent Zara purchase (read said blog post here) I need these too. Because they’re beautiful. They’re selling out fast but there’s still a pair in my size… hurry up payday!

4 – The white dress. What better to cover up with on the beach, or to throw on when the sun unpredictably shows up again than this beautifully embroidered dress from ASOS (although mine would most probably have ice-cream spilt down it within minutes). I also found a pretty much indentical verison in Primark for a fraction of the price tag, so that’s the one I’ll be stocking up on for Summer beach days.

5 – The basket bag. An iconic (and handy) accessory, and the perfect addition to any Spring / Summer outfit. Big enough to carry all necessary bits and bobs (and maybe even a picnic) in a nod to classic Birkin fashion. This J-Crew one is top of my wishlist for an effortlessly stylish addition to my bag collection.

6 – The gingham bikini. Although the British weather is far from bikini season (if it ever is really that warm) it’s never too early to stock up. I’m still loving the gingham trend and this ASOS two piece is so cute it would be rude not to invest in it for any possible holidays.

7 – The denim jumpsuit. After stumbling across Paloma Wool I fell in love. The brand is a refreshing flare of minimal, classic pieces that are a twist on simple basics and work to transform an outfit. Her Instagram feed is amazing, and I regularly find myself drooling over the collection – but the one item that stands out in particular is the denim jumpsuit. It resonates so much with my style and is more of a modern, pared back take on dungarees (my all-time faves). The flared legs are incredible and it would be a timeless addition to summer clothing.

8 – Vinyl of the month. I’ve always liked Circa Waves, but after going to watch them live at Rock City last week (blog post to follow soon) promoting their latest album, I’ve become a proper fan. Different Creatures is an easy-on-the-ear, rocky selection of songs, perfect for road-trips and chill out days. ‘Fire that Burns’ and ‘Old Friends’ are definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already. I’ve just got a weekend job at Fopp Nottingham too, which is such an exciting experience for me as music is one of my biggest passions and I love sharing that with people. It’s also exposing me to all kinds of new music genres and artists, so I’ll be sure to share any emerging bands or albums I come across that grab my attention.

Until next month! Thanks for reading.

Peace x
