In true British festival reality this past weekend has consisted of one too many warm lagers and the unforgettable sound of favourite bands, and resulted in a lost voice, worsening headache and serious Reading blues. We kind of forget for a year about all the camping inconveniences (it took Chloe and I almost two hours to figure out how to assemble our broken tent), below average toilet situation and the fearful sight of clouds and threat of mud they bring. But you’ve just got to embrace these minor obstacles (and even learn to love the loos) for five days and throw yourself into the festival spirit.

While everyone else is out finding Pokemon I’m trying to catch a few slightly different things. August is my birthday month (hint hint) so I’m hoping for some extra pennies to pick up these pieces I’ve been lusting after to keep me going for what’s left of ‘summer’! Reading fest is fast approaching too, so I’m hunting for those last minute buys to get me by.
Chic, boisterous and smart all rolled into one. It’s not hard to think of more than one occasion to wear a co-ord and it’s not hard to find a good selection of them online either. Whether you’re all for shorts, trousers or skirts there’s one out there for everyone. My personal fave right now is this Monki skirt and t-shirt combo (click to snap it up from ASOS), and not just because it’s stripy. I love the rusty colour scheme and fresh kinda look it gives off. For my 19th birthday celebrations I’m channelling my inner Ziggy Stardust and taking major inspo from all-round legend David Bowie and his bang on Kansai Yamamoto bodysuit (worn for his Ziggy Stardust tour, 1972-1973).
I’ve interpreted it with this striped plunge jumpsuit from emerging brand Missy Empire and added orange accessories.
I don’t usually do colour, especially not on nights out (I’m more of a play-it-safe with black kinda gal) but on this occasion taking a risk really paid off. The orange makes a statement and compliments the black of the jumpsuit nicely and although my feet may still be recovering from the heels, I can’t help but still love these Public Desire lace-up sandals (£17 in the sale)! They matched the tie back feature of my jumpsuit and also my River Island clutch, which is such a fresh and original style with its two-tone orange panels… Happy birthday to me!
I’m excited to officially have joined the blonde club now too, after F I N A L L Y getting a new ‘do on my birthday – just in time for Reading Festival and the last stretch of summer. Thanks for all you guyz who made this one special.
